The test detects all eight legal nuts (almond, Brazil nut, hazelnut, macadamia, pecan, walnut, cashew and pistachio) in one analysis. Furthermore, the distinction between these nut types is partially visible.

Operating principle

By means of specific antibodies (just like in ELISA tests) the presence of the allergen to be tested is made visible by the appearance of a line. The test strip contains 3 lines: a control line that indicates whether the test has been performed correctly and 2 test lines. 
T1 detects the nuts almond, Brazil nut, cashew and pistachio. The distinction between the nuts on this line is not visible, but it is with the nuts on T2.
T2 detects the nuts hazelnut, macadamia, pecan and walnut. The distinction between the nuts on this line is not visible, but it is with the nuts on T1.

High concentrations of the allergen ( >10%) may suppress the visibility of the test line. Therefore, do not use the test for pure (undiluted) nut ingredients.
The principle is comparable to a corona or pregnancy test.

Additional information

Not suitable for the reader (RapidScan ST5).

It is recommended to analyze a control of the contaminated surface (for cleaning = positive control) to validate the method.
Excessive residual residues of cleaning or disinfecting agents on the surface can interfere with the test.
