Use in allergen management system

Cleaning is a crucial part of a good allergen management system. Effective cleaning removes contamination, including micro-organisms and allergens. Time can be saved by immediately determining whether the cleaning has been carried out properly. And more importantly: later rejection of products can be prevented. In case of discoloration, it can be cleaned immediately.
Protein measurements are extremely suitable for the verification of cleaning. Since allergens are the protein fraction, this sensitive protein test is a suitable instrument.

Sensitivity

For surfaces, proteins are detected from 20 µg protein. The test detects all proteins: all allergenic but also all non-allergenic proteins such as proteins from meat or vegetables. Because a product usually consists of different types of proteins, an incomplete cleaning is noticed sooner when using this test. Regardless of the type of product and allergens present, all proteins must be removed after cleaning. 

Measuring principle

When amino acids, peptides and proteins come into contact with the reagent in the test strip, a blue to green color reaction occurs. Depending on the amount of proteins detected, the color reaction is stronger.

Additional information

Disinfectants based on hydrogen peroxide give a false positive reaction because in combination with residues of this agent a green color is also created. Remaining residues of cleaning agents with amines or amides can also cause a false positive reaction.

The swab tips are pre-moistened.

After using the test, discoloration may remain on the surface. Remove this with water or alcohol. The dye is not dangerous.
