Allergen Risk Calculator Workshop

As of 1-1-2026, the following applies: Dutch allergen policyFor this, it is mandatory to carry out a risk assessment of potential cross-contamination with allergens.
This training is intended for anyone familiar with the reference dose methodology. These safe limits are used in the quantitative risk assessment (Quantitative Risk Assessment - QRA) of allergens. In the Netherlands and other European countries, but also in VITAL 4.1, the reference doses are applied as advised by FAO/WHO. 
In addition, retailers ask for a quantitative risk assessment from their private label suppliers before cross-contamination with allergens is stated on the label. A specific format is often required for this. 

Calculator

In this practical workshop, we work with the Allergen Risk Calculator. This format is accepted by all Dutch retailers. It can be uploaded as 'VITALcalculation' in TraceOne (AH) or SIM (including Jumbo, SuperUnie). 
The Allergen Risk Calculator (ARC) can be used free of charge for six months after the training. After that, it is possible to update service to close. A new license will then be sent automatically every year. And if there are new versions of this calculation tool, they will also be sent. 

Intended for whom?

This training is intended for everyone who has previously taken the training risk assessment cross-contamination allergens with us at a recognized VITAL Training Provider has completed. The allergen training at FNLI also provides sufficient basic knowledge to get started with the tool in this workshop.

Learning objectives and topics

Using case studies and practical examples, we demonstrate how a quantitative allergen risk calculation is performed. We also cover the information required to properly complete the calculation tool. There will be ample opportunity to ask questions during the workshop. Afterwards, participants will be able to perform the quantitative allergen risk calculation independently (again). The following topics will be covered during the course:

• Brief update on developments and changes, FAO/WHO and Codex Alimentarius, FAVV and Dutch allergen policy and VITAL
• Explanation of the Allergen Risk Calculator calculation tool (Excel) 
• Steps in risk assessment and data collection
• Practice with the ARC calculation tool using practical examples and case studies.
• Smart management of calculations and worst-case approach

Our training fees are per person (excluding VAT) and include course materials, use of the calculation tool, and extensive reference information.

After receiving the registration, we will send a confirmation by e-mail. 

Cancel

If unable to attend, a colleague may take the vacant seat. Written cancellation is possible up to 2 weeks before the start of the course. We will then charge €37,50 administration costs. If you cancel within 14 days before the start of the course, the full amount is due. If the minimum number of participants has not been reached, the course may be rescheduled to a later date. Naturally, there is the option to refrain from further participation. 

System Requirements

The tool is an Excel application and is fully compatible with Excel versions from 2021 onwards. Certain functionalities do not work in older Excel versions. The file is not suitable for Excel for the Web (Online).
Mac users are advised to use a Windows emulation.
